The Holiday season is here, and that means the return of turkey, stuffing, and Black Friday shopping. Black Friday was originally named in reference to other stressful and chaotic days, like Black Tuesday, the day of the 1929 stock market crash. In recent years, the day after Thanksgiving has become an all out battlefield for Black Friday shoppers. People are lining up earlier and earlier to secure their chances at scoring the best deals of the holiday season. In 2011, a crowd of shoppers stormed the gate to an Urban Outfitters in a Thousand Oaks Mall, destroying the gate and knocking down metal detectors in the process, and numerous people suffered injuries while fighting over memory card deals at a Wal-Mart in Oakland, CA. For many, the idea of huge savings on Christmas presents or necessary purchases trumps the risk of bodily injury.
